State of Nature
Hobbes and Locke are two English Philosophers who have different ideas about what is natural when it comes to government. Hobbes says that a government is a covenant, an agreement, which should be legally binding, and that a government is set in place to create justice when those binding agreements are not met. He says that because of these "mutual agreements" societies are able to operate. Locke on the other hand says that in order for society to work, "natural law" is reason and rationality. Human instinct is to assist another human out of danger, after self-preservation of course. In other words, do not deprive someone of what they need to live.

What is a Good Government?
We all have different views of what constitutes a good government. Ideas are the controversy that lie within this realm. Some people agree that a smaller government is good and some disagree. I am one of those people. It is true to say that the government, specifically the U.S., is a liberal democratic society, but has it, lately, been unappealing to the people? Democracy - of the people, by the people, for the people. But seriously speaking, the people are somewhat silenced. But I believe that in order to prevent chaos, we rely on leaders, yet when they mandate something unappealing to the people, we call it tyranny.
